Squarespace Domains

Use this page if Squarespace is the registrar your lookup showed. Domains that used to be at Google Domains are now managed by Squarespace, so this page is for them too.

Before you start, read the short checklist on the any-registrar page, and have your SayVel dashboard open so you can copy the two nameservers.

  1. Open your Squarespace domains dashboard.

  2. Select your domain name. If you have several domains, each one is changed separately.

  3. Select DNS, then select Domain Nameservers.

  4. Select Use Custom Nameservers.

  5. Enter your password. If you use two-factor authentication, confirm with that instead, then select Continue.

  6. If Squarespace asks you to turn off DNSSEC, select Continue.

  7. Enter the two nameservers from your SayVel dashboard in the Nameserver 1 and Nameserver 2 fields.

  8. Select Save.

Squarespace says it can take up to 48 hours for the nameservers to start working properly. Once it has had time, check that it worked.

  • This applies when the domain is registered with Squarespace, or registered elsewhere and connected to Squarespace in a way Squarespace calls Nameserver Connect. If your domain is registered at another company and only linked to a Squarespace site, make the change at that other company. Use the lookup to see who it is.
  • Squarespace says custom nameservers are only for people who need them, and suggests care. That advice is for people running their own setup. You are not on your own here, and you can message us from your dashboard at any point.
  • If the change will not save, see A locked domain.
