Namecheap

Use this page if Namecheap is the registrar your lookup showed. You will switch your domain from Namecheap’s DNS to the two nameservers on your SayVel dashboard.

Before you start, read the short checklist on the any-registrar page, and have your SayVel dashboard open so you can copy the two nameservers.

  1. Sign in to your Namecheap account.

  2. In the left sidebar, select Domain List.

  3. Find your domain and select Manage next to it.

  4. Find the Nameservers section. It has a drop-down menu.

  5. Choose Custom DNS from the drop-down menu. Do not choose Namecheap BasicDNS or Namecheap Web Hosting DNS.

  6. Enter the two nameservers from your SayVel dashboard. Type only the names. If you were ever given IP addresses with nameservers, leave those out.

  7. Select the green checkmark to save.

Namecheap says nameserver changes are not instant. It can take up to 24 hours, and in rare cases longer, for everyone’s internet provider to update. Once it has had time, check that it worked.

  • A few domain endings, such as .ca, .de, and .fr, have extra rules about nameservers. Namecheap lists them on its help page below. If your domain ends in one of these, message us before you switch.
  • If the change will not save, see A locked domain.
