Your domain

Your domain is your web address, like yourbusiness.com. To show your new SayVel site there, you make one change at the company where your domain is registered. We call that company your registrar.

The change is to your domain’s nameservers. Think of them as the directory that tells the internet where your address leads. When you give your domain our two nameservers, the internet starts sending visitors to your SayVel site.

You own the domain, and it stays in your account at your registrar. We never take ownership of it. Changing nameservers only changes where the address points.

Whoever can sign in to the registrar account. If a web designer, a relative, or a former employee set it up, ask them for access, or ask them to follow these steps for you.

  1. Find where your domain lives. Two minutes, no sign-in needed.
  2. Move your DNS to SayVel. Pick your registrar’s page, or use the any-registrar page.
  3. Check that it worked.
  4. Make sure your email keeps working. Read this one before step 2 if you have email at your domain.
