Check that it worked

After you save the new nameservers, there is a wait while the change spreads. These checks tell you where things stand.

Our system checks your domain for you. It starts about a minute after we set up your domain, and then looks less often as time goes on. When it sees our two nameservers on your domain, your dashboard tells you your site is live.

If you changed the nameservers a while ago and the dashboard has not caught up, message us from the dashboard. We can ask for another check.

  1. Open lookup.icann.org and look up your domain, like yourbusiness.com.

  2. Find the Nameservers list.

  3. Compare it with the two nameservers on your SayVel dashboard.

If the list shows only our two, your registrar has made the change. If it still shows your old ones, the change has not reached the lookup yet, or it was not saved. Go back to your registrar and make sure it saved.

  1. Open a private or incognito window and go to your domain.

  2. Also try it on your phone with Wi-Fi turned off, so it uses cellular data. Your home or office network may remember the old site for a while.

  3. Try www.yourbusiness.com too. It should take you to yourbusiness.com.

If you still see your old site, do not panic. During the wait, some visitors see the old site and some see the new one. Check back later.

If you have email at your domain, test it the same day.

  • Send a message from your domain address to a friend or to a personal address, and ask them to reply.
  • Ask someone to send a message to your domain address, and check that it arrives.

If anything fails, see Email keeps working.

Your dashboard says live, the lookup lists only our two nameservers, your site loads at your domain, and a test email goes both ways.
